First, Giving is an act of Worship.

This is a way to worship God with the finances that He has given us. It is a way to thank Him and trust Him for what He has done.

 

Second, Giving is an act of Imitation

The closer we are relationally to someone, the more we start to act like them. As followers of God, we will understand that He is a giving God:  John 3:16 says

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”

 

God gives and therefore, as a follower of Jesus, we will naturally start to imitate Him – by giving of our time, abilities, resources, and finances.
